"Wherefore he says:
Awake, thou that sleepest,
And arise from the dead,
And Christ shall give thee light."
Ephesians 5:14 (Reina-Valera 1960)
We live in a time where it is very easy to become spiritually cold, it is enough to allow humility to hide from our lives to begin to criticize everything and become judges.
There are so many people today who stopped feeling the presence of God and not because God has moved away from them or is no longer there, but because they themselves began to sleep instead of watching, they began to leave God, they began to forget that their strength came from God, that what they have achieved and became is because God was behind each of their achievements.
Many rest on their laurels, those they achieved long ago but today the only ones who remember it are them, because their life is not even the shadow of what it once was. We cannot live thinking that in the past things were done well, but we must do things well right now.
To sleep spiritually is to have stopped praying, to have stopped reading the Word of God, to have stopped serving God or congregating with other people who think and feel the same way about God as you do.
To sleep spiritually is to attend every Sunday to listen to a preaching, but not to understand or not to put into practice anything of what you have heard, it is to be present without being a practitioner, but only a sympathizer.
To sleep spiritually is to no longer feel that the Holy Spirit redeems us when we have done something wrong, it is to no longer feel the pain of sinning, it is to no longer feel the discomfort of saying something out of place or being in a place that does not honor God.
Do you have any symptoms, have you been sleeping for a long time, what are you waiting to wake up, wake up, it's time to wake up the sleep of comfort and start doing what God wants us to do!
Today I invite you to examine yourself for a moment and be honest with yourself and recognize if you have been asleep all this time and if so, it is time to start doing what God wants you to do and what you were called to do.
Do not allow spiritual sleep to lead you to failure, but rather do all you can to be awake and watching because the day of the Lord is at hand.
Wake up!
"We are living in very important times, and you have been living as if you were asleep. It is time for you to wake up! The day is very near when God will save us; much nearer than when we first began to believe in Jesus."
Romans 13:11 (English translation)
